Sammy
10/22/2008
17 years old

On wednesday, our boys P.J. and Duke, and our girl Gertie, whispered in Sammy's ear and said,"Be ye not afraid."

Soon after, our Sammy, comforted by our embrace, crossed over the rainbow bridge to the waiting smiles and wagging tails of his brothers and sister.

Just like they, Sammy nows sees and hears again...and he no longer suffers from the aches of advanced age and the pains of cancer.

We miss our boy dearly. we still look for him stretched out in front of the refrigerator. we still wait for him to wake us up at 4:00 a.m. every morning to be let out.

We still look for him scratching his back and rolling around in the banana trees. we still hear his bell jingling so we can know where our old deaf and blind boy is at all times.

We still hear him barking every time we cook and eat, always having his keen sense of smell.

Every memory of you, our Sammy Boy, is etched in our soul.

Run free, dear boy, with Duke, P.J. , and sweet Gertie!
