Rudi came to me at Christmas deaf and heavy heartworm positive. We almost lost him in heartworm treatment. He had a bad heart because of them. Rudi was my shadow. Because he could not hear, he always wanted me in his sight. If I went out of the room he was scurry around until he found me. Rudi could dart through the door faster than any dog I ever had, earning him the name Runaway Rudi. He always got through the door to the office to lay with me while I was on the computer. He brought many hours of laughter to our home. Rudi was a calm, sweet soul whose love and trust was unending. Although he could not hear, I talked to him all the time. He was my teddy bear. Rudi, today you can hear me when I say "I love you". You are in my heart forever.
