Kathy & I first met Pita at a CRS adoption event in Conroe May, 1996. She
was a good looking dog, but came with "baggage". She did seem to fit our
family and I believe it was a success. Pita was featured as a successful
adoption on the Crs web site. Pita died on November 28, 2004 at the age of
just nine. She had been her usual active self prior to Thanksgiving, but
she suffered kidney failure and could not keep going.
Pita was with me through life altering experiences during just the 6 1/2
years we were together. These included retirement, death, bereavement,
engagement and marriage. She was such a help in assisting me during the two
plus years after the tragic death of my wife. Pita was the only one with
Kathy the night she drowned.
Marilyn & I are now located in a new house on Lake Conroe and Pita was just
adjusting to the new surroundings.
Pita loved going places, whether by car, boat or walking, she wanted to go
along. Her major problem was "separation anxiety syndrome". The stories of
her exploits in those situations were legendary.Chasing squirrels up the
trees, chasing waterfowl out of our canal and begging for treats were things
I will remember about her.
She did as much good for me as I did for her. It is such a shame that now I
am getting settled again, she will not be around to share. She will always
be with me in spirit.
