Millie
May 21, 2012

13 years ago I adopted a little black and white cocker named Millie from Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas. We had a couple of rough days at the beginning, but she quickly got me trained and before I knew it she was my constant companion. She loved to swim and fetch tennis balls, both of which she could do for hours on end. Then, at the end of the day, she would curl up with me on the couch and snuggle. Millie saw me through law school, breakups, good times and bad. When I got married and a new dog joined her family it was an adjustment, but she took it in stride. Everyone who met her said the same thing, "I wish I could find a dog like Millie".

Millie passed away suddenly on the way to the vet, but she spent her last day at the lake wagging her little stub of a tail, swimming, and laying in the sun. I miss her terribly, but I am so grateful to Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas for finding her and giving her a second chance at life. I really can't imagine the last 13 years without her.

She will always be my girl.
