Duke's Life-Story...

Duke came to us after being dumped into rescue because he was too old {12 to be exact}...and too much trouble to keep around {because he was deaf and blind}.

Even though Duke spent 12 years with the people who let him go, he lovingly came into our home to be part of our family. He made friends with our senior dogs, Mr. Adam and Sammy {also deaf and blind}. They taught him to camp out in the kitchen and they showed him the path outside to the bathroom.

Surprisingly, old boy Duke could get on his hind legs and steal food cooking on the burners and food sitting on the countertops.

Duke was a happy boy.

After being with us for a mere two weeks, he had a massive stroke. We sat in bed, holding him close, letting him feel the beating of our hearts, knowing that he was loved.

Our only regret is that his original family did not wait just 2 weeks...so that duke could have died with the family he truly loved...if only they had waited.
