Daisy Mae
October 8, 2007

In early September, Daisy May (aka Dottie) went in for her annual checkup. Her blood work showed that she was in renal failure. We tried doggie dialysis on Daisy for almost a week, but it was very difficult on her as she had to stay at the vets 3-4 hours each time. Every time we took her to the vet she would shake the whole way. So we tried home infusions on her and they seemed to be working until she stopped eating. She began vomiting what little we could get into her by syringe. Severe diarrhea accompanied the vomiting. Finally she was unable to even stand. The morning of October 8th, we made the most painful decision and had our Daisy put to sleep by Dr. Scott, our vet at My Family Vet. My Family Vet has a quiet garden where we took Daisy so that she did not have to go inside the office. It was very peaceful. We are bringing her ashes home where she will remain with us.

My 14 year old Schnauzer, Clancey seems lost. He looks for her. They were best buds. Many times they would lay side by side like an old married couple.

It hurts beyond belief. Daisy had the sweetest personality. She was my little black shadow in the day and my warm cuddler at night. She hated to go outside and had to be constantly coaxed. When we stayed in hotels and I had to walk Daisy and Clancey, Clancey would pull me while I pulled Daisy. We must have looked a sight.

I miss her so much, but I thank God that we got to have her even if it was only for four short years.
