I am sad to report that on June 30, 2011, we lost our sweet little Betsy (black and white cocker, adopted from
Cocker Spaniel Rescue in 2004, where she was known as "Kayla"). We think she was around 14 or 15 years old, and
though she had a happy and comfortable life with us since 2004, she evidently had a very difficult
life until then at the Madisonville puppy farm. She was as sweet as they get and although she never really
stopped shaking and had quite unique eating habits, she was a deeply loved and treasured member of our family.
My greatest memory of her is when we brought my daughter, Claire, home from the hospital in May 2007. Betsy was
immediately a little mommy and would always come and get me when she heard the baby crying and sat by Claire every
chance she got until Claire became mobile. Only then did she start to keep her distance! Three years later, we lost
our 16 year old Buff Cocker, Brady (pictured with Betsy below) and shortly after that, I think Betsy missed her friend.
Though they never really loved each other, they had grown quite attached.
We miss our cocker family members.
